Design and Technology

At Sir John Lillie Primary School, our Design and Technology curriculum empowers children to become creative problem-solvers, critical thinkers and innovative designers. Rooted in the National Curriculum, it encourages children to consider real-life problems and develop practical, meaningful solutions. Through engaging, hands-on projects, students design, create, and evaluate products for a variety of purposes, connecting their learning to the world around them.

Our curriculum is carefully structured to build on previous skills, allowing children to revisit and refine their knowledge while progressively developing their abilities in areas such as construction, mechanics, electronics, textiles, and food technology. Our children are encouraged to explore their ideas, test their designs, and embrace both successes and challenges as opportunities for growth.

By fostering collaboration, resilience, and a deep understanding of the design process, we aim to nurture confident learners equipped with the practical skills and creativity needed to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
